Mare - Dreptul Iosif cel Preafrumos 🌾𓁈 🔸
În Lunea Mare, îl
comemorăm pe Dreptul Patriarh Iosif cel Preafrumos. Viața sa este consemnată în
ultimele capitole ale cărții Geneza (37-50). Dreptul Iosif a fost al 11-lea fiu
al Patriarhului Iacov. Deoarece Iacov îl iubea mai mult decât pe ceilalți fii ai
săi, frații săi au fost cuprinși de invidie. L-au aruncat într-o groapă și apoi
l-au vândut negustorilor care călătoreau spre Egipt. În Egipt, Iosif a fost
vândut lui Putifar, căpitanul gărzii faraonului.
Putifar a recunoscut că
Domnul era cu Iosif și că El făcea să prospere tot ce întreprindea. Astfel,
stăpânul lui Iosif l-a făcut supraveghetor peste casa sa, punând tot ce avea
sub autoritatea sa. Iosif era plăcut la înfățișare, iar soția stăpânului său a
căutat să-l seducă. Dar Iosif, fiind cast, a refuzat-o, zicând: „Cum aș putea
să fac eu o asemenea mare nelegiuire și să păcătuiesc împotriva lui Dumnezeu?”
(Geneza 39:9).
Fugind de ea, el și-a
păstrat puritatea. Totuși, ea l-a defăimat, în mod fals, în fața soțului ei,
spunând că a încercat să o violeze. Putifar, crezând minciuna, l-a aruncat pe nevinovatul
Iosif în închisoare. În timp ce se afla în închisoare, Iosif a interpretat, prin
puterea lui Dumnezeu, visele [unor deținuți]. Mai târziu, a interpretat visele
faraonului (Geneza 41), prevestind 7 ani de abundență urmați de 7 ani de
foamete. Iosif l-a sfătuit pe faraon să depoziteze grâne în anii de abundență.
Recunoscând înțelepciunea dată de Dumnezeu, faraonul l-a eliberat pe Iosif și
l-a pus [guvernator] peste tot Egiptul, făcându-l conducător al casei sale și
furnizor de pâine pentru popor.
În timpul foametei,
frații lui Iosif au venit în Egipt căutând grâne. Nerecunoscându-l, au stat
chiar în fața fratelui pe care îl trădaseră. După ce i-a închis timp de 3 zile,
Iosif și-a dezvăluit identitatea și, în loc să se răzbune, i-a iertat, zicând:
„Ați gândit răul împotriva mea, dar Dumnezeu l-a transformat spre bine” (Geneza
50:20).
Iosif cel Drept ÎL
simbolizează pe Hristos: a fost iubit de tatăl său, trădat de frații săi, vândut
pe argint, acuzat în mod fals și închis pe nedrept. Totuși, el a fost înălțat
la glorie, devenind salvator și furnizor de pâine pentru cei care odată l-au
respins, susținându-i în timp de foamete și prefigurându-L astfel pe Hristos,
Pâinea Vieții."

Monday - Righteous Joseph the All-Comely 🌾𓁈 🔸
On Holy Monday, we
commemorate the Righteous Patriarch Joseph the All-Comely. His life is recorded
in the final chapters of Genesis (37-50). The Righteous Joseph was the 11th son
of the Patriarch Jacob. Because Jacob loved him more than his other sons, his
brothers were moved with envy. They cast him into a pit, and then sold him to
merchants who were travelling to Egypt. In Egypt, Joseph was sold to Potiphar,
the captain of Pharaoh’s guard.
Potiphar recognised
that the Lord was with Joseph, and that He made all he did prosperous. Thus,
Joseph’s master him made him overseer of his household, placing all that he had
under his authority. Joseph was pleasing in countenance, and his master’s wife
sought to seduce him. But the chaste Joseph refused her, saying: “How then can
I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” (Gen. 39:9).
Fleeing from her, he
preserved his purity. Yet she falsely slandered him to her husband, saying that
he attempted to defile her. Potiphar, believing the lie, cast the innocent
Joseph into prison. While in prison, Joseph interpreted dreams by the power of
God. Later, he interpreted Pharaoh’s dreams (Gen. 41), foretelling 7 years of
abundance followed by 7 years of famine. He advised Pharaoh to store grain
during the years of plenty. Recognising the wisdom given to him by God, Pharaoh
freed Joseph and set him over all Egypt, making him ruler of his house and
provider of bread for the people.
During the famine,
Joseph’s brothers came to Egypt seeking grain. Not recognising him, they stood
before the very brother whom they had betrayed. After placing them in prison
for 3 days, Joseph revealed himself and, instead of taking vengeance, forgave them,
saying: “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good” (Gen. 50:20).
The Righteous Joseph
typifies Christ: He was beloved of his father, betrayed by his brethren, sold
for silver, falsely accused and unjustly imprisoned. Yet he was raised up to glory,
becoming the saviour and provider of bread for those who once rejected him,
sustaining them in time of famine, and thereby prefiguring Christ, the Bread of
Life."
